About
The Degree Apprenticeship Project is dedicated to improving access to degree apprenticeships for students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds, particularly those eligible for Free School Meals (FSM). Research from The Sutton Trust shows that only 5% of degree apprentices come from FSM backgrounds, despite 25.7% of UK students being eligible. This gives an alarming Representation Index of just 0.19 - a clear indicator of severe under-representation.
We aim to close this gap by providing expert guidance, training and direct support to schools, teachers, parents and students. Led by education specialist and former advertising executive Ned Browne, The Degree Apprenticeship Project aims to equip non-selective schools with the resources, knowledge and confidence to help disadvantaged students secure these life-changing opportunities.
