Mission

The Degree Apprenticeship Project is dedicated to improving access to degree apprenticeships for students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds, particularly those eligible for Free School Meals (FSM).

Background

Research from The Sutton Trust shows that only 5% of degree apprentices come from FSM backgrounds, despite 25.7% of UK students being eligible. This gives an alarming Representation Index of just 0.19 - a clear indicator of severe under-representation.

The Degree Apprenticeship Project aims to close this gap by providing expert guidance, training and direct support to non-selective schools, parents and students. (The Degree Apprenticeship Project was founded in 2025 and is a not-for-profit organisation.)
