What are Degree Apprenticeships?

A degree apprenticeship is a paid job where the apprentice works for an employer while studying for a university degree at the same time. Apprentices split their week between work and academic study.

Degree apprenticeships offer the following benefits:

A fully funded degree
A competitive salary
On-the-job training
An enhanced CV
The opportunity to make contacts and gain experience in the workplace - effectively fast tracking your career
Often you can gain a professional qualification too (e.g. RICS - Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors)
Over 90% of degree apprentices end up being offered full-time contracts once they graduate

The financial upside compared to a traditional university route is at least £150,000. This figure accounts for your degree apprentice salary (c. £30,000 pa), your waived tuition fees (c. £10,000 pa) and lack of maintenance loans (c. £10,000 pa), over a three year period. As such, degree apprenticeships are a "golden ticket" for economically disadvantaged students.
