In the digital age, the importance of face-to-face contact cannot be understated. Organisations respect students who have made the effort to get to know them better. It’s also a great way to build your LinkedIn network and your CV.
Once you have created a shortlist of companies, head to their “Early Careers” website pages and see if they're hosting any insight events. If so, sign up and attend. These insight events are excellent for acquiring insider knowledge.

Careers fairs etc.
To get the most out of careers fairs, you need to have a plan - get a map of the event and target companies of interest. You have to make a great first impression: arrive early, dress smartly, introduce yourself, smile, ask questions, hand out your CV etc. Connect with useful contacts on LinkedIn. These free events showcase all levels of apprenticeships. Before registering, check the list of exhibitors. If none interest you, don’t waste your time.
University study is the main focus of UCAS Discovery Events. But there are usually apprenticeship zones too. These events take place across the country. Do your research before you commit.
What Career Live hosts a number of events, some of which are more focused on apprenticeships than others. Again, research in advance.
