Meeting employers
In the digital age, the importance of face-to-face contact cannot be understated. Organisations respect students who have made the effort to get to know them better. It’s also a great way to build your LinkedIn network and your CV.
Once you have created a shortlist of companies, head to their “Early Careers” website pages and see if they're hosting any insight events. If so, sign up and attend. These insight events are the gold standard - and can’t be beaten for gaining insider knowledge.
PathwayCTM connects students with leading employers. They do lots of amazing things around apprenticeships, including arranging face-to-face events.
Uptree organises dozens of face-to-face and virtual insight days (or similar) across a wide range of sectors.
Similar to Uptree, Young Professionals organises numerous face-to-face and virtual insight days across a wide range of sectors.
Careers fairs etc.
Obviously, these are not as good as insight events. To get the most out of careers fairs, arrive early and have a plan - get a map of the event and target companies of interest (and network). The list below is far from definitive - Google to find relevant events near where you live.
These free events showcase all levels of apprenticeships. Before registering, check the list of exhibitors. If none interest you, don’t waste your time.
University study is the main focus of UCAS Discovery Events. But there are usually apprenticeship zones too. These events take place across the country. Do your research before you commit.
What Career Live hosts a number of events, some of which are more focused on apprenticeships than others. Again, research in advance.

All of these events are an opportunity to make a great first impression: dress smartly, arrive early, ask questions etc.
If you can’t attend in person, attend virtually.
